Boston Dynamics opened the Robotics Metaplant Application Center (RMAC) on 21 Sep 2026 on the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America campus outside Savannah, Georgia. The company describes it as a testbed and training center for integrating Atlas into Hyundai’s car production, with “Atlas® robots now in training.”
Early training covers the logistics and sequencing of automotive parts before assembly; the release gives 2030 for extending the work to component assembly. In the same release, Hyundai Motor Group says it starts “with 25,000 units at Hyundai Motor and Kia’s global plants over the next few years” and that it is setting up a new U.S. production facility “capable of producing 30,000 robots annually.” Both figures are the group’s targets, not deliveries.
The release calls Atlas “our electric humanoid platform currently in development.” The status on the Robopear Atlas card stays “piloting”: training at a customer site is not a production deployment.
